How to help someone?

How do you help someone who knows what to do but don’t do?

As a teacher, you teach the students, the knowledge is transferred, they do the test, they pass the test, and the next is that you expect them to do well, yes?

No, not necessarily because of one thing, “ALIGNMENT of mind and body“.

  • Yes, when they are aligned, they will do well, as they know what to do and how to do it.
  • No, when they are NOT aligned, they know what to do and how to do, BUT not to do.

ALIGNMENT of mind and body is key to achieving and applying what they know.

There are many who are NON-aligned, that’s why we need to play the numbers game (looking some someone who fits your group, by going through lots of people who are not aligned), to FIND the ALIGNED people to join the team.  People tend to tell you what you want to hear, get the job, then do not do what they said they will do, then you worry about terminating them because of the labour law, they can end up suing you for wrongful termination, if you don’t have a good HR or lawyer on your side.

What is the alternative to the numbers game, because it can be an expensive exercise in time and money?

CREATING ALIGMMENT in the ones who are with you!

How do you do this alignment?

The mind and body are separate; the body is heavier than the mind.  See the body as a heavy rock; you need to move it from where you are to where you want to go. The rock is stationary. How do you move it?  You have lots of these rocks to move!  Physics has taught me, what is stationary will remain stationary unless acted upon by an external force; the same is true for non non-stationary object that is moving, it will keep moving in the same direction unless acted upon by an external force.

Instead of pushing or pulling the body, who knows where you want it to go, CREATE INERTIA!

Inertia is when a moving object begins, it will keep moving.

GET THEM TO PHYSICALLY MOVE!

When they move, you just have to DIRECT them to MOVE to the destination that they already know!

How to get them to physically move to create the inertia?

  • Let’s go for pickle ball.
  • Let’g go play tennis.
  • Let’s go bowling.
  • Let’g go walking;
  • Let’s go swimming.
  • Let’g go gym.
  • Let’s go dancing.

Anything that they PHYSICALLY HAVE TO MOVE.  When they are in the moving inertia, now they will want to keep going!

When you tell them what to do, they KNOW what they need to but the BODY does not want to move!

When you get them to MOVE and TELL them what to do, they will DO!

It is like the carrot in front of the donkey or the back of the donkey story!  The carrot in front of the donkey moves the donkey; the carrot in the back of the donkey does NOT move the donkey.  In the same way, you need to GET THEM TO MOVE first, any physical movements, then you DIRECT or REMIND THEM of their OUTCOME, their DREAM that they wanted.  You will get them to be MORE ALIGNED, the one you are looking for.

Yes, you still NEED TO GO A FEW TIMES till they are conditioned to the INERTIA MOVING, turning the extrinsic to intrinsic movement.  Condition them to KEEP MOVING instead of back to the STATIONARY body that will NOT do what they want to do.
