I have been told many times, more times than I could remember, “Stephen, how did you become so wise”?
- Wisdom is flexibility, not rigidity.
- The flexibility comes with life experiences.
The more you have experienced life, the successes and failures, you begin to see patterns and realise what the keys to life are. Like Bruce Lee says, “Be like the water“! This is deeper than it sounds; it is wisdom. Water is flexible, not rigid; it can do this or that, it is reflected in Bruce Lee’s martial art style, he is flexible, if this does not work, do that, and if that doesn’t work, try another till you win.
I should add one more to the wisdom:
- Wisdom is fearless flexibility through life experiences!
Most are fearful of making mistakes, and with the fear, you stop having new experiences, but repeating the same experiences, wisdom does not grow in the same repeating patterns.
Be brave, be fearless, and explore to experience life; wisdom grows from experiences!

What was the second message you received while in ICU? You did not elaborate on this….
Second message was “darkness is your friend’ not feared. The universe is 99% darkness only 1% rathher less than 1% is light. I need to learn to see in the darkness then the fear of darkness will fade. It is like walking into a darkroom full of furnitures that you cannot see but thinking there is nothing there. I need to learn to turn on the ‘dark light’ within to see through the darkness. Darkness is your friend, not feared.
